Ford embarked on a solo heavy metal career after the disbandment of her group in 1979. Ford learned to sing followed by her debut solo album, 'Out for Blood'. This was followed by the release of her second album, 'Dancin' on the Edge'. The albums didn't receive much success, and Ford just vanished out of the scene for a few years. The singer returned with her record 'Lita' that was released in 1988. Kiss Me Deadly and Close My Eyes Forever, both of which became huge hit and are just two of the examples. However, the success of her music was brief, and she vanished from the music industry for many years. Her release of "Black" in 1995 was followed by "Wicked Wonderland, almost 15 year later. Her latest album, Time Capsule was released in 2016. Guitar Player Magazine gave her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
