Mitchell's closest friend Angela 15, who was fifteen years old at the time of her death in April 1997 as a result of an automobile accident, died 11th April 1997. Mitchell discovered this was extremely difficult and Angela was the inspiration for her song Angel, which appears on Mitchell's debut album. The incident was further detailed in her memoir Chicken Soup For the Preteen Soul, and 7th Heaven's show "Nothing Endures But Change". Her close friend Angela died after a car crash at the age of 15 years old. Mitchell was devastated by this and composed a song Angel for Angela on her debut album.
